Vehicle Turntables
• Meet local planning requirements where vehicle entry and exit is required in forward gear
Units can be built for internal or external use and for integration into a suspended slab or ground slab, as required. Most are based on standard, tried and tested design models, and in all cases they offer low noise, ease of use and a reliable, long life with minimal service and maintenance costs.
As well as working from a range of standard designs, BTI also bespoke designs and builds structural turntables to rotate any vehicle, from the smallest of cars in an underground office block car park, to articulated trucks in city centre retail delivery areas, and military aircraft and vehicles. Vehicle access turntables can be rotated using different methods. More traditional systems incorporate a centre bearing and, in the case of larger diameter structures, a series of wheels is fitted at the perimeter to support the deck and ensure stability. Where a very low profile pit is required, however, the turntable can be floated on a film of air using BTI’s Hovair Systems’ air bearing technology. This latter system may be preferred where there is a suspended slab, for instance when the revolve is to be installed into an upper floor with a room below. Each system has its own virtues, and BTI has decades of experience in advising on the most effective solution to individual vehicle access problems. BTI vehicle access turntables are available with the following options: For a typical service yard layout and vehicle turntable case studies please visit our Downloads page for A4 printable PDF files. |

Vehicle turntables provide effective access solutions, from improving car parking provision in a city centre office block to enabling truck access to sites that would not otherwise be reachable. Installation of a BTI vehicle access turntable may help to:
In each case dedicated BTI engineers work closely with architects, surveyors, specifiers and project engineers throughout the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the turntable, as well as providing a responsive post-commissioning support service. The company also offers overall design assistance to help meet current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) regulations.
